The ONE Trait You Need to Promote Your Small Business and Make it Grow

How to Promote a Business and Make It Grow with Trust

Sweet summertime. It’s the time of year that life and business typically slow down… but we can’t help it – we’ve got business growth on the mind!

There is no one-size-fits-all approach in business, of course, but we decided to look for the “secret sauce” anyway.

We took a hard look at some successful businesses and noticed a common theme at play.  The ability to grow and promote your business can be distilled down to one key trait.

Seems simple, right? Let us break it down for you.

Customers trust your business when they can identify the genuine benefits your business brings to their lives. That trust is established long-term when your customers feel assured that they will receive those benefits every time they walk through your door.

The consistency of that customer trust then becomes the basis for your group of loyal customers. In turn, those loyal customers typically grow into your greatest source of return revenue and word-of-mouth referrals – both of which help you grow and promote your small business.

So how do you become a trustworthy business?

#1 – Start With Yourself

As a business owner, you build trust in your company and brand by being trustworthy yourself.

This means sometimes asking tough questions. Am I willing to get “in the trenches” with my team? Are customers genuinely our top priority? Am I continually improving to meet the highest standards?

If the answer is no, it may be time to adjust. If the answer is yes, showcase these features – your reliability, personality, and confidence in purpose. Customers will take note and that helps businesses grow.

#2 – Spread It to Your Employees

You can’t always be there greeting the customers or answering the phone, so it’s important that your employees are trustworthy, too.

Remember, you serve as a role model to your employees. You set the standard and are responsible for keeping them accountable, but in return, it is essential to show trust in your employees.

Invest in training your team to be the best; then give them the chance to shine! Remember, front line employees can make or break a customer’s experience.

#3 – Take It Online

Trust is especially important in the digital world. When you interact with your customers on your website and through social media profiles, transparency should be your number one goal. When you’re open and honest with your digital marketing, you build trust with customers and potential future customers offline as well.

Ultimately, people do business with people they know and trust. Once you build those trusting relationships, growth is sure to follow.
