3 Ingredient Homemade Window Cleaner

Making your own homemade window cleaner can not only prove to be a great way to save money, but it can also give you the piece of mind knowing exactly what is being sprayed around your home. I think there’s something to be said for knowing that there aren’t any hidden chemicals that your kids or pets can get ingest and become sick or be harmed by.

The homemade window cleaner recipe that I’m going to share with you is a tried and true recipe that works each and every time. Believe it or not, I use this three ingredient window cleaner recipe in my own home and absolutely adore the fact that it is so simple. If you like easy, I can almost assure you that you’ll never go back to purchasing bottles of the blue stuff again! And, since it’s only three ingredients, you can make it virtually on the fly as you likely have everything needed to whip up this concoction right in your own home.

Without further ado, here are the details. To make the homemade window cleaner you’ll need vinegar, water and an essential oil of your choice. I like to use a lavender essential oil, but you can use eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, or any other type as well. You’ll also need an empty bottle with a sprayer. I will admit that the manufacturers of commercially made cleaning products probably make the best bottles for this, so if you don’t have any empty bottle, I would suggest waiting until you empty out and finish up one of those bottles (Windex, 409, or the like) so you have a reliable bottle with working and functioning spray nozzle to make your window cleaner and store it in.

Yes, it really is that easy. Simply pour all three ingredients into your bottle, out the spray nozzle on top and you’re ready to rock and roll. If you’re wondering what it smells like, it does smell a little like vinegar, but not enough to linger for too long, and the essential oil will help mask the vinegar scent.

You’ll love the ease and effectiveness of this window cleaner. And when you run out, you don’t have to worry about running to the store, you’ll have everything right at your fingertips.
