Best Things to Buy In September

Even if you were planning to save most of your shopping for sales like Black Friday, September is still a great time to get in on last-minute deals that you can’t afford to skip. As the transition month between summer and fall, you’ll see a lot of deep discounts on items like grills, clothing, holiday decorations and more. Piggyback coupons onto your savings from Labor Day through the end of the month and you’ll walk away with some excellent deals.

Grills and Patio Furniture
In most parts of the country, families start spending a lot less time outdoors. This means that the interest in updating a patio drops. Break away from the crowd! Big retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s and Target have great deals on both gas and charcoal grills. Patio furniture, umbrellas and gardening tools will also offer some of their lowest prices of the year. For outdoor enthusiasts, now is the time to plan ahead and splurge for next year.

Holiday Decorations
With Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah on the horizon, that to-do list keeps growing. When you’re in the thick of holiday shopping, ornaments and decorations can be an afterthought. Start shopping for them now so you can spread the cost out over time. Macy’s, Kohl’s and Walmart have great prices for both interior and exterior decor that will have your home feeling festive in no time. Use coupons and promo codes to save even more.

Clothing
Although it sounds strange, the best time of year to get summer clothes is when summer is over. Designers reduce prices on their summer lines to make room for new fall fashions. Check out low prices on girl’s jackets at Kohl’s, boys’ tee shirts at Aeropostale, as well as maternity stores like A Pea in a Pod and Men’s Warehouse. So think ahead to the sizes your family will be wearing next year and get the deals while they’re hot!

Electronics
If you’re an Apple enthusiast, you’re on pins and needles about the iPhone 6 release on (so they say) September 9. When that happens, previous generations will see a dramatic price drop, making some of your most desired smartphones more accessible. You can find more electronics deals online through Amazon.com, Macmall or Best Buy. In fact, Best Buy has great savings on computers like MacBook Air and desktops right now.

Winterizing Your Home
Fall fix-its are just as important as spring cleaning around your home. Make those repairs, spruce up that yard, and seal those drafty windows. Grab your coupons and head to Home Depot and Harbor Freight for power tools, pipe wrap, and a battery organizer to get ready for the slew of electronic toys you’ll soon have to buy!

With the lush greenery and salt air giving way to falling leaves and crisp breezes, September is a great time to save on things you need now, and items you’ll want when the weather turns warm again.
