Frugal Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Finding the perfect gift for mom doesn’t have to break the bank. With a little thought and effort you can make mom feel extra special without spending too much money.

Personalized and Photo Gifts

Moms love personalized and photo gifts. This takes a bit of time but not much money. Find a great picture of the family and make a photo mug or canvas for the wall. You could also make a photo book with pictures from this year or a few years. There are often coupon codes for photo gifts that can save you even more.

Another great idea is to head to your local craft store and get a stepping stone kit. Have the kids put in their handprints and add “Happy Mother’s Day” and the year. Most kits include some gems and other decorations too. This makes a great memento and will make any mom smile. This will help her remember a special Mother’s Day each time she sees it. You could even make one every few years and make a little path. You will be amazed how fast those little handprints become big.

Indulgence

Are there little things that your mom loves but she considers an extravagance? Make a small gift bag with some of her favorite items; like her favorite hand cream, lip-gloss and a paperback book. Another great Mother’s Day idea is to let her spend a bit of time by herself. You could give her a coffee gift card and a magazine, and send her off for a bit of time to recharge. If she loves to shop, you could send her to the mall for a few hours with a gift card. If you want to make this time extra special, the family can clean the house while she is away. Can you imagine her delight to coming home to a freshly cleaned home?

Family Time

Another great idea is to just spend some time as a family. This doesn’t have to cost anything. You could go on a family bike ride or hike. You could even plan a picnic lunch. Making happy memories is always a favorite for moms. Just make sure you do all the planning and organizing.

Coupon Book

I also love those coupon books that can be made and used throughout the year. Fill out the coupons with jobs you will complete and little treats for mom. You can print it out on some cardstock and you’ll have a great and inexpensive Mother’s Day gift.

Don’t forget that the best gift to any mom costs no money at all. Be sure to let your mom know how much you appreciate everything she does. She will love that you made her feel special and helped to create a fabulous Mother’s Day.
