Giving Back: United Way Day of Caring

On Thursday, October 3, more than 80 Valpak employees pushed up their sleeves and braved the Florida heat to volunteer for United Way Suncoast Day of Caring.

This year, we chose to lend our support to PARC (Providing Advocacy, Recognizing Abilities), a local nonprofit that provides 40+ services to more than 800 children and adults with developmental disabilities. PARC is dedicated to creating a community where all individuals live with dignity and are treated with respect.

We painted. We weeded. We mulched. But most importantly, we made a difference!

Becky M., Valpak Network Marketing Solutions Manager, shared her most memorable part of the day: “We were trimming bushes in front of a building and I happened to look into one of the windows. An older man was sitting there in a wheelchair and smiled. I have to guess it’s been a while since sunshine flowed through that window. I’m glad we helped make that happen.”

Karen Higgins, President and CEO of PARC couldn’t believe how much Valpak volunteers had accomplished in so little time: “I’m in total awe of what I’m seeing this morning… This means so much to PARC. We couldn’t be more grateful.”

Valpak helps out in more than 165 communities in the U.S. and Canada, supporting charitable causes for education, the environment, health, human services, animal services, fine arts and music.
