Labor Day Means Sweat-Free Savings

woman-shoppingLabor Day usually means a quick getaway, a day by the water or a staycation in the AC. But if you do a little research, it can be one of the best shopping days of the year. This is the time to whip out those coupons and get ready to save at major retailers like Walmart, Best Buy and Home Depot.

The Unsung Hero of Savings Holidays
Labor Day can serve up better savings than Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Many items are on sale instead of a few door-busters that lure you into buying more than you’d planned. So you can skip the pre-dawn queue and enjoy the afterglow of that Thanksgiving meal. Save money on clothing, home items, electronics and summer gear.

Back-to-School Deals
If you missed your state’s Tax-Free Holiday, you can still save the weekend before school starts in most places. Stores look at what’s left over from the August rush and slash prices in September. They also try to move fall fashions to make room for out the fall Check out Kohl’s, Macy’s and Target for 50 percent off (or more) discounts on kids clothes, accessories and shoes. Labor Day is a great day to use those coupons for even greater savings.

Think (Next) Summer
Labor Day is still warm enough to be thinking about summer. Is that beach umbrella frayed? Did the kids wear out those sandals? If that beach towel is getting worn, think ahead and buy now. It’s a good time to buy kids bathing suits the next size up, that cute cover-up you passed over in July, or a new lounge for the patio.

Around the House
The long holiday weekend offers an extra day to prepare for winter. Find savings on home decor, tools you use outdoors, lawn and garden supplies, as well as new bedding and furnishings. Thinking of grilling on that Monday off? You can score a great savings on grills, too. Look for savings at home improvement stores like Lowe’s and Sears.

Save on TVs and Electronics
One reason for Labor Day electronics deals is football. It’s the time many of us think about upgrading our TVs, or buying another one to keep peace during the playoffs. You can also save big on home theaters and sound systems. And don’t forget phones and computers. When the iPhone 6 comes out, expect to find discounts on older models.

Labor Day can be one of the hardest-working holidays for deals, especially when you use coupons on top of the lowered prices. Even if you don’t feel like leaving the house, you can still save by using promo codes online. And with that, your work here is done!
