Saving on Your Wedding – #BridalBlue Twitter Party Wrap-Up
We had such an amazing time last week with everyone that joined in on our #BridalBlue Twitter Party. Along with some of the best wedding stories we have ever heard, we also told you to tell us what you wanted to save most on – either as a guest, bride, groom, or wedding party member. And what we found out was that you want to save on everything – and we love that about you. So you asked, and we have answers!
Vacations and Honeymoons
If you don’t know us by now, we love to save money on travel! We have some amazing partners that can save you money on your travel plans like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, Apple Vacations, and Southwest Vacations. But how about combining those savings with something a little out of the ordinary? Choose your dream destination and jump over to HomeAway. You can stay at some beautiful locations and have access to all of the amenities of home, plus you can save money by cooking instead of eating out every night. We also have tons of other travel and hotel coupon codes, just ask us!
This one is a little difficult for us because these deals will vary by location. So instead of coupon codes, we’ll give you a few pointers on how to get the best deal on your venue.
1. Think about getting married in the off-season. Again, this will vary depending on where you are getting married as sometimes the summer may be too hot, or the winter may be too cold. But if you have a venue that you are dying to get married at, give them a call and see what their slow months are – then choose your date.
2. Opt out of a Saturday wedding. Saturdays are the biggest days for weddings and events at any venue. Many times you can work out a discount if you choose a Friday, Sunday or date in the middle of the week – but make sure that you choose a date that your guests will be able to attend.
3. Work other discounts. While not advertised, many vendors (not just venues) will give you discounts for being in the military, law enforcement, public service, etc. It never hurts to ask.
Did you know that FTD and ProFlowers have an entire wedding collection? You can order bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres and anything else you need, plus we have savings for them! Looking to do something a little more DIY? We know you have already scoured Pinterest for your dream look, so bring it to life and save money by using coupons and ordering vases and extra details from Walmart or Target.
Food is very much like the venue, it will change depending on where you are. But make sure to compare prices for a sit down dinner versus buffet style meals, stations and hand passed hors d’oeuvres. Or think about doing a morning wedding followed by a Sunday brunch, because who doesn’t love brunch!? Doing something more unconventional will not only help you save money, but will also give your wedding that unique flair that you are looking for.
Whether you are the bride, or simply a guest at several weddings this summer – the dress is a key component. The great news is that you don’t have to buy an expensive dress that you may not ever wear again. Instead, try renting your digs from Rent The Runway. You can rent some of the most beautiful dresses you can imagine for a fraction of the cost of buying. You can also rent your accessories, purses, wedding dress, or just get a second dress for your reception so that you have more freedom to break it down on the dance floor.
You should definitely check out Card Store. I know what you are thinking…”Cards? I want invitations!” Well, we bet you didn’t know you could order save the dates, invitations, and thank you cards from their Delphine Press section? These are beautifully designed and will fit any budget (especially with our coupons), color scheme or personal wedding style.
Gifts and Favors
Whether you are looking for gifts to give your wedding party, your future spouse, or need to buy a gift from the registry, we have you covered. Check out places like Bed, Bath and Beyond, The Knot Wedding Shop, Crate & Barrel and Macy’s. Not only can you find gifts from the bride and grooms registry, but if you are the one getting married, there are hundreds of unique gifts that you can give.
As far as favors, you can find many items at The Knot Wedding Shop that you can use as favors. Again, if you are looking at going the DIY route, why not try a customized bottle of wine, or make cute birdseed heart favors? Favors don’t have to be costly to be unique.
