The annual Small Business Ad Spending survey shows a healthy balance between traditional and digital advertising for small businesses. More than 60% of ad budgets are not solely tied to annual revenue goals. They tend to be fluid and concentrated in the second fiscal quarter.

Advertising remains a joint decision, with nearly 60% of business owners consulting at least one or two other people before committing to a spending plan. About 41% prefer to consult with both traditional and digital media-savvy individuals, showing the continuing importance of online marketing.
