{"id":22904,"date":"2022-08-02T18:09:27","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T18:09:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.valpak.com\/?p=22904"},"modified":"2024-12-30T20:45:57","modified_gmt":"2024-12-30T20:45:57","slug":"automotive-advertising-consumer-survey-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.valpak.com\/advertise\/blog\/automotive-advertising-consumer-survey-results","title":{"rendered":"Automotive Advertising Consumer Survey Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Valpak\u00ae conducted a consumer survey (1,365 respondents) to determine the most popular automotive services and what motivates consumers to purchase these services, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Top reasons to select a particular car dealer \/ service provider<\/li>\n<li>Motivating factors to try or switch to a new auto business<\/li>\n<li>Preferences on ad formats for auto coupons (<strong>61% chose by mail<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<li>The most popular services and offers by automotive industry category<\/li>\n<li>Seasonal car care needs for summer travel and winterizing vehicles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use these online survey results to develop advancements in your marketing strategy and to make smarter auto advertising decisions.<\/p>\n<h2>CAR DEALERSHIPS \/ VEHICLE PURCHASES<\/h2>\n<p><strong>14%<\/strong> of respondents are prospective car buyers, looking to purchase a new vehicle in the next year. <strong>65%<\/strong> are not loyal to any particular automaker.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px; height: auto; padding: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.valpak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Try-or-Switch-Auto-Brand-or-Dealership.jpg\" alt=\"try or switch auto brand or dealership chart\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE \/ REPAIR<\/h2>\n<p><strong>72%<\/strong> of respondents opt for DIFM (do it for me), leaving auto maintenance \/ repair to the professionals. <strong>47%<\/strong> spend at least $200 per year on these services.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px; height: auto; padding: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.valpak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Most-Popular-Auto-Maintenance-Repair-Services.jpg\" alt=\"most popular auto maintenance repair services\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nearly half of respondents (<strong>47%<\/strong>) get their vehicles serviced at the car dealership vs. an auto repair shop (<strong>35%<\/strong>) or an oil &amp; lube shop (<strong>18%<\/strong>). Customer experience \/ service is the <strong>#1 reason<\/strong> they choose a specific service provider.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px; height: auto; padding: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.valpak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Reasons-to-Choose-Auto-Service-Provider.jpg\" alt=\"reasons to choose auto service provider\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt would take a lot to make me switch auto repair shops. The distance difference would have to be offset by some really great deals.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Several of our survey respondents shared similar opinions as well as loyalties to particular shops. However, when asked what would motivate them to switch or try a new provider, cost was the overwhelming response (<strong>63%<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px; height: auto; padding: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.valpak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Try-or-Switch-Auto-Service-Provider.jpg\" alt=\"try or switch auto service provider chart\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>CAR WASH &amp; DETAIL<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>68%<\/strong> of respondents use car wash and detail services, most opting for \u201cfull service\u201d to leave the suds to someone else. Like auto repair, the #1 motivator for car wash &amp; detail customers to switch or try a new provider is cost.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px; height: auto; padding: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.valpak.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Try-or-Switch-Car-Wash-Detail.jpg\" alt=\"try or switch car wash &amp; detail chart\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>TOP OFFERS BY AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY CATEGORY<\/h2>\n<p><strong>67%<\/strong> of respondents are driving vehicles that are 5 years or older (23% are 13+ years old). Routine maintenance and as-needed repairs are critical to keep these vehicles looking good and running well into their teens.<\/p>\n<p>Most respondents do not have maintenance plans (<strong>73%<\/strong>) or roadside assistance (<strong>79%<\/strong>) and, unsurprisingly, want to save on auto services whenever possible.
