The Coolest Gadgets on the Horizon – CES 2016
January’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) attracts hundreds of tech, car and electronics companies to Las Vegas for a trade show that affects most of us in some way.
Hundreds of devices, appliances, concepts and gimmicks are introduced each year. In 2016 the star of the show was a smart refrigerator. The Samsung Family Hub scans what you put into it and warns you of expiration dates. It displays recipes (or TV shows or your kids’ latest artwork) on a 21.5-inch front door touchscreen. It’s connected to your smartphone and credit card companies so you can order what it tells you you’re low on, and has it delivered to your door. An idea whose time is long, long overdue!
Cars and gadgets are also popular entries at CES, and this year saw such innovations as robotic bartenders, doggie fitness trackers, and wireless language translators.
