How to Build a DIY Murphy Bed
Whether you have a tiny house, a small apartment or cramped quarters, you might be looking for a way to save space. The Murphy bed, patented in 1900, has gone in and out of fashion over the decades. It’s once again in, as the recession and housing market squeeze have prompted moves into smaller quarters. The shift toward minimalism has also made this bed popular again. You can buy them – generically known as wall beds – from the original Murphy Wall-Beds website, Sam’s Club, Wayfair and other furniture retailers. If you’re ambitious and handy, you can save a lot of money by making your own DIY Murphy bed. Do-it-yourselfer Steve Ramsey shows you how to do it.
