Texas State Fair 2017: The Rundown

Hey Texans! Are you ready for the 2017 State Fair? Starting September 29th the Fair Park in Dallas will be transformed bringing fun for the whole family. Check out the rundown of all the events and things to do while you’re there.

Free Concert Series
On the Chevrolet Main stage, you can catch a free concert nearly every night! Listen to artists like Flo Rida, La Mafia, Charlie Daniels Band and Wilson Phillips. To see the full main stage lineup visit

There are plenty other ways to hear some live music. The State Fair has three other stages including the Carnival Lido Deck Stage, The Cotton Bowl Plaza Stage, and the Dr. Pepper Stage. The U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps will also be performing September 29 through October 9.

Shows for Everyone
Catch a number of shows on any given day! The full Daily Schedule can be viewed at bigtex.com and includes nightly firework displays, the Wild West Pet Palooza, and the Nightly Starlight Parade! Don’t miss out on the ZuZu African Acrobats taking limbo to a whole new level or the Largest Auto Show in the Southwest! There will be exhibits in both the Centennial and Automobile Buildings for fans to explore.

The Midway
A state fair isn’t complete without carnival rides and food! The Midway features more than 70 rides including the iconic 212-ft Texas Star Ferris Wheel, the 500-ft. Top O’ Texas Tower and the 1914 Dentzel Carousel! Get in on a piece of history and ride the famous rides.

Ride and Drive
Chevrolet is offering a thrill ride for a lifetime. As the official vehicle of the State Fair of Texas, you’ll be able to test drive one amazing vehicle on two exciting tracks! Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license and pass a breathalyzer test.

Additionally, don’t miss out on all the Livestock exhibits, the Annual Chili cook-off and the winners of Big Tex Choice Awards!
