Top 10 Holiday Gift Ideas for The Gardener in Your Life

While many of the top retailers in the country keep their Black Friday sales on a confidential basis before Thanksgiving, we wanted to give you gift ideas to look for while flipping through the many ads that will be out at turkey time. For those gardeners in your life, there is a wide range of options to choose from depending on your budget. From low tech gardening gloves to high tech electronics, there is something for everyone (and every wallet) in these top 10 gift ideas below for the gardener in your life:

#1: An Outdoor Utility Wagon

Gardeners always need some storage when they are working in the garden: to hold seedlings, produce, or pulled weeds. The Mac Sports Collapsible Folding Outdoor Utility Wagon from Amazon is one of their most wished for items and is #6 in their Best Sellers in Gardening and Lawn Care that is updated hourly. These types of wagons usually run from $60-$150 depending on brand but should be on sale during the Christmas season.

#2: A Soil Tester Meter

Knowing what is happening below the ground is an essential part of making sure that garden soil is healthy. This Soil Tester Meter is an easy way to instantly know the pH level of the soil as well as the light and amount of moisture that it is receiving. At just under $10.00 this is an excellent option for those with a limited gift budget who want to purchase something useful.

#3: Modified Gardening Gloves

Every gardener can use an extra pair of gardening gloves to spare their hands while digging in the dirt. However, choosing the right pair of gloves can be difficult given the many options available. Consider these Garden Genie Gloves that include a standard set of gloves with the addition of plastic fingertip claws. The claws allow you to quickly dig without the need for any extra tools and are great for weeding as well. At under $10.00 for a 2-pack of gloves, these would make a great stocking stuffer idea too!

#4: A Universal Umbrella

Working out in the garden can call for long hours under the hot summer sun. Consider getting a universal umbrella that can offer some cool shade for gardeners. We like this umbrella option from Amazon that can attach onto anything including a wagon, chair, or even a fence. It can be swiveled around and quickly moved as well. Also, at just under $30.00 it is an excellent option for those on a budget.

#5: A Garden Kneeler & Seat

Working on the ground for many hours can become quite hard on joints. Consider purchasing a padded kneeler that will allow knees to have a comfortable spot while working in the garden, like this convertible one from Home Depot. The kneeler also transforms to a seat complete with a side pocket for tools when a rest is needed. Regular price for a tool like this is about $70.00, but you should be able to find them at a significant discount at around $40.00 this holiday season.

#6: An Indoor Gardening Kit

For those gardeners on your gift list who live in a cold winter climate, consider getting them an indoor garden so that they can enjoy plants even with freezing outdoor temperatures. Many indoor gardening kits are available, but the Aerogarden Classic 6 Pod Indoor Gardening Kit was featured on a major retailer last year on Black Friday. It is typically priced anywhere between $150-$200 but was just $90 last year. This kit comes with seeds and grows up to 6 plants in water that can sit on a countertop. Complete with a growing light, it is the perfect gift idea this year.

#7: A Nutri Ninja Blender

Many of those who love to garden also like to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Purchasing a blender for a gardener is an excellent choice in doing their prep work in the kitchen a little bit easier. The Nutri Ninja Blender is commonly on many Black Friday ads and can be as much as 50% of the retail price. For about $100.00 you can get a blender that is great at making those fresh fruits and vegetables into healthy shakes and juices.

#8: A Leaf Blower

Although many view leaf blowers as more of a maintenance tool, they can be quite useful when it comes to outdoor gardening. Wireless leaf blowers can not only blow leaves but also take care of grass clippings, fruit, and vegetable debris, as well as quickly clear a garden bed. There are many options on the market, but most leaf blowers will run about $150-$200 regularly. We like this Kobalt battery powered blower, from Lowe’s. You should be able to find these on sale around $90 during the Holiday season though.

#9: A Hammock

Many gardeners enjoy spending time outdoors enjoying the fruits of their labor, and what better way to do so than by relaxing in a hammock?  There are more types of hammocks than one might imagine, but fortunately, Hammocktown does an annual Black Friday Sale on all sorts of hammocks, all highly discounted.  Prices start at $65 and go up to $600, with discounts in the 50% range on Black Friday.

# 10: A Gas Patio Heater

Those who love to garden love to spend time outdoors. Consider purchasing a gas patio heater for those on your gift list who want to extend their time outdoors even when the seasons change. These patio heaters produce an excellent output of heat that can be easily adjusted. They are usually around $140.00 but should be less than $100.00 on sale around Black Friday. We like this pyramid style heater by Fire Sense as it heats throughout, not just at the top. Grab it or one like it at Home Depot.

There is something for every gardener no matter the size of your budget. From meaningful and useful gardening gloves at just $5.00 a pair to more expensive high-tech camera systems, you’ll find something for every gardener on your gift list with these top 10 holiday gifts.
