Valpak Volunteers at United Way 2014 Day of Caring
Almost 80 employees rolled up their sleeves to participate in United Way Suncoast’s 2014 Day of Caring at PARC, October 2.
PARC (Providing Advocacy, Recognizing Abilities) is a non-profit organization that provides about services to more than 800 children and adults with developmental disabilities. Through their miraculous stories and assistance from companies they exercise their independence and experience life to the fullest.
Employees spent the day sprucing up this United Way partner agency, volunteering their time and muscles, to help beautify PARC by painting and landscaping, including weeding, trimming, mulching and cleaning out flower beds.
“This is a great opportunity to get together with your co-workers and make a difference in our community,” said Valpak’s president, Michael Vivio. “It can be hard work — but it’s also great fun and very rewarding.”
The 22nd annual Day of Caring brings together thousands of volunteers in one day to help organizations to provide important community services across Tampa Bay in the five counties of Pinellas, Hillsborough, DeSoto, Sarasota and Manatee. Nearly 2,200 volunteers from more than 120 local companies work on 170 projects at local social service agencies, schools and community organizations.
Valpak has supported The United Way as a core charitable cause for at least 10 years, providing more than $1 million in support in printing and storage in that time. Valpak also matches employee donations every year in the annual United Way fund-raising campaign.
