Acupuncture Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of hairline thin needles into specidic points in the body. It is a complex branch of ancient Chinese medicine for balancing the flow of energy or life force-known as Qi. The Qi flow through meridians in your body. By inserting needels into specific points along these meridians, it helps the body restore the normal balance so organs and body systems can work together in harmony.
Chinese Herbs Chinese Herbal medicine is part of an integrated system of primary health care. The materia medica includes information on the traditional uses, dosages and contra-indications for each substance, as well as any available informationb on drug interactions.
Chinese Herbs Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners most often use tow or more substances in Chinese medical formulations to create a balanced, synergetic effect that reflects the holistic nature of the diagnosis.
Cupping Cupping can be described as somewhat like a reverse massage. Instead of pushing the muscles into the body to get them to relax, cupping involves placing glass, bamboo or plastic jars on the skin and creating a vaccum by suctioning out the air, gently pull the muscle tissue upward to help it release. The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, pull out the toxins that linger in your body's tissues.
Gua Sha Gua Sha is a technique in which scraping is used to release muscle tension, stiffness and congestion. Oil or ointment is applied to the skin and then it is scraped with repeated strokes with a smooth edged implement until a small red or purple spots appear. The spots are referred to as sha and it will take a few days for them resolve.
Acupressure Acupressure applies the same principles as acupunture to promote relaxation and wellness and to treate disease, sometimes called pressure acupuncture. Acupressure is often thought of as simply acupunture without the needles. Acupressure practitioners use their fingers, palms, elbows or feet, or special devices to apply pressure to acupoints on the body's meridians. .
