(LARGO, FL – Oct. 9, 2012) – Valpak Direct Marketing Systems, Inc., a leader in local print and digital coupons, will participate in the United Way Suncoast’s Day of Caring in a big way this year, with nearly150 employees volunteering.

United Way with ValpakThe 20th annual Day of Caring will be held Thursday, Oct. 11 and will bring together more than 3,300 volunteers working more than 24,000 hours in one day to help Tampa Bay organizations to provide important community services.

Valpak employees will roll up their sleeves to paint, clean, do woodworking, and make handyman repairs Valpak at the Happy Workers Children Center in south St. Petersburg.

“I couldn’t be happier with how many Valpak employees signed up this year,” said Jim Sampey, chief operating officer of Valpak. “Our people have always had a generous spirit, but they are really getting on board this year in a big way.”

The Happy Workers Children Center was founded in 1929 and provides children ages 2 months to 5 years and their families with quality childcare and innovative early childhood education. It also provides innovative early childhood education through a values-driven, family-based curriculum.

Valpak also worked with local businesses to have products and services donated, which will make the work the employees do go even further.

  • Home Depot (Store 6321) provided materials at volume pricing;
  • Shoreline Stone Manufacturing provided discount on pavers ;
  • Anvil Paints & Decorating provided 60 gallons of paint, stain, and sealer at cost;
  • The Rental Depot waived delivery fees and reduced rental fee.

As a platinum sponsor of the United Way, Valpak has supported The United Way as a core charitable cause for at least 10 years, providing more than $1 million in support in printing and storage in that time.
